Garden Series

Knock Out Roses
30"x40"

Iris, Three foot x four foot . These pieces came about when I was going to paint the iris that were blooming in the yard, but mother nature had another thing in store for us, rain! So, instead of a tight study of a small composition of flowers, I  took to the studio and put on some music and listened to that inner creative voice. That still quiet voice we all recognize as our higher power. It said we were not going to paint "tight", we were going to paint loose. so, with Radiohead playing on the stereo and God whispering in my ear, this is what we got instead. I Love them and they"re just in time for spring!

A Salute To George Jones

Ya know I was raised on good ole George Jones and his whiny crying in your booze type of of country music. I was fortunate to see him in concert a few years back just after he had earned that "No Show Jones" reputation. He showed up for our concert and he did a damn fine job too!
Wow, I can hardly believe that he's gone.
I couldn't let the moment pass without memorializing him in paint.. 16"x20" Acrylic on canvas.

Getting there

This little pooch whoochie is a little practice doggie that I did. I chose a particularly hard subject so that I could improve my skills. Perspective is a little off on this one, I must admit, but the face and head are overall very well executed I think.
I like painting the dogs, I think because I'm a dog lover! Call me with your orders! Only the finest oil paints and linen surfaces used.
this one is 9"x12"

Pet Portraits

Did this little Golden in the middle of the night. I had a client ask me , "do you do dogs portraits?" Hmmm, well, I never had before so I had to practice one. So at 3 am this little darling was painted. Its a 9"x12" on linen board ,oil of coarse.
This Portrait is on conventional cotton canvas, oil. 8"x10" this is my dog Kosmo.
Truth be told, I prefer the linen board. I know its more expensive but it takes the paint in such a lovely way.

Looks like we are now in the business of pet portraits! I love the doggies!
